school pictures

Back to school is here and it makes me think about school photos. I remember those awful graphic backdrops and black combs that school photos all come with but I know a great couple here in Warwick who are making "back to school" photos cool and innovative but classic and whimsical all at the same time!

Angela and Michael Chermak opened SEAGULL Photographic Art in 2007 and live in Warwick, NY, with their two beautiful young boys. The boys have made great models to work with too! Michael is an amazingly talented photographer. Angela is the Art Director. She makes sure clients look their very best at their photo session. And at their ordering session she helps them choose which images to print as their wall art. I know the Chermaks are willing to travel too and these two will go the distance for your great shot so do not hesitate to contact them regardless of your location or occassion.

SEAGULL Photographic has made such great connections with their subjects, who are now friends of the artists, and have truly shared beautiful graphic recordings of events or times in peoples lives as you can see in just a small sampling of their work here.

They recently shared this with me about working with their clients, “It’s a privilege to be invited into our clients homes and to be trusted with photographing their most important fleeting little moments. We love capturing the connection between children and their loving parents. This business that we’ve created is so rewarding. The look on a client’s face and the tears in their eyes the first time they see their images is priceless.” I just loved this. They are genuinely interested in capturing your true beauty with emotion and feeling in each shot.

I have watched them grow since 2007 and they are really on their game. I am continually impressed and inspired by their work.

I am so pleased to know and share this dynamic duo with you today and sincerely hope that you will reach out to them to capture any moment in your life, whether it is a back to school photo, maternity photo or family photo, SEAGULL Photographic certainly will make it a memorable one!

Please click on the title of this blog post to see more of their work and be transported to the SEAGULL Photographic Art website.

beautiful bermuda

Summer is coming to a close and just in time Brian and I were able to be swept away on a cruise to Bermuda. What a wonderful way to wrap up summer! Bermuda is just beautiful.

The water in Bermuda is the most inspiring color and made me excited to come back and make more art. I photographed some of my most favorite things, entryways and windows endlessly and it was not challenging to document such a beautiful place with all their bright and pastel colored architecture.

I also became obsessed with ropes. With all the ports and ferry rides ropes and rusted hooks and loops were everywhere so I had a total of 400+ photos that I really loved and embraced Bermuda's beauty.

As we explored Bermuda we were able to find lots of great artists living and working in Bermuda. There were tons of watercolorists and jewelry makers capturing the pink sands so beautifully. We went to the Bermuda Arts Center and I picked up a great canvas tote with their logo to transport goodies back and forth to school in.

We are ready to go back and look forward to another trip in the years to come! If you have not been, I highly recommend going. The pink sand and aqua blue green water was just stunning. Take a peek into some of my favorite images from the trip.

a good team

I can't help but be amazed by my super talented husband Brian. He continually has an eye for art and has been busy this summer making oodles of goodies. He has been making fantastic found object art using scrap, recycled, and found materials. He is a king of recycling.

He found great piano keys that he has made oodles of items with. Most recently he has created wall art, cork and chalk boards, necklaces and furniture.

I have posted about Brian's talent before but here are some of the most recent photos of his current work combined with a few of my own clay pendants that I have made.

I can hear the sound of the saw coming from his workspace now.... he loves to keep busy making things great! When he isn't creating found object art and furniture, Brian's passion is for education. Brian is on his way to be an elementary teacher. The Monroe Woodbury School District is lucky to have Brian as a student teacher this fall from September to December from which he will be looking for a full time teaching position in January 2012.

We both look forward to starting school in September this year after a productive and creative summer!

He brings great creativity to all he does and I know he will be successful in all of his future endeavors! All that meet him, really love him and his work! For now, his work is available to purchase so please contact me if you are interested in purchasing a piece. Check out some of his work here and more to come soon!

At the end of the day, I am one lucky lady to be married to man that can inspire me in every aspect of life!
